The other day I was walking through a charter school in our area. They had a wall that totally caught my eye! I LOVED it! Along the wall there were large pictures of people like Rosa Parks, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison & a few others. Under each picture there was a description of an accomplishment or inspirational quote by them about not giving up until you succeed. Above all the pictures in large letters was simply, "WHY TRY?...."
I don't know why it hit me so profoundly, perhaps because I am a mother who wants her kids to succeed and I know their insecurities or fears of failing and I don't ever want them to give in to them, I want them to overcome them by pushing through and persisting until they succeed. I mean the people on this wall did not easily come by their success, but they were passionate about it and kept trying.
I was reminded of all of this the other day when Ryan returned from a trip to Southern Utah....just outside of Kanab, to be exact. He brought home this pictures. Perhaps you have heard of this business.......
In 1988 two sisters discovered rubber stamps and came up with an idea to help provide for their families. After a while their business filled these buildings and before they knew it they required this.......
I guess the reason why this struck me was just because I am so inspired by people that don't limit their own abilities. They have a dream, set a goal & then never limit their abilities to accomplish things. I guess that is why the "WHY TRY?" Really struck me. I think our abilities are only limited by the limits that we apply to ourselves.
What do you think? Any thoughts?

I absolutely agree! When I was deciding what to do about my book--after several rejections--I came across a quote by a guy who is a very sucessful indie-publisher, and he said something to the effect that "you should never leave the success of your dreams in the hands of another." That did it for me, and from that moment on, I knew it was totally and completely up to me to achieve my goals. It was definitely inspiration!
Oh, I LOVE that Hannah! I am so glad you found that quote and kept going! October is going to be a GREAT month! :)
That quote is PERFECT for all of us to remember!
That saying is so cool. I remember reading on a blog once "I'd rather fail at something I love than succeed at something I hate". That goes along with what you're saying to me...find what you love and TRY IT! I need to try a few more things...
Also, am I the only one who likes Stampin Up's old bldg better than the new one? :)
Thanks I needed this. I have been trying so many things to help our family financially these last 3 years and I feel like nothing works and I've been so discouraged I know my little Active Bands business is still new and I need to be patient and in due time our family will be back on our OWN two feet. Thanks!!!
